Humanising Information and Questioning Academia, Workshop, 2019
In 2015, Weimar (Germany) received 600 refugees as part of their social integration program. There were a series of articles about this situation published by the New York Times. The attempt was to trace the people mentioned in these articles and invite them to speak about the process of social integration. As a result of this Bashar Al-Sulaiman who was mentioned in one of the articles was found and was invited to talk about social integration in Germany and his own observations about this process after four years of living in Germany. The project was developed to include multiple German N.G. O’s ,Thuringia State officials and UN habitat Youth Unit to come together and learn from the first-hand experience. The project was supported by Bauhaus Research School, Humanitarian City -Solidarity State conference and Urban Social Researcher Damla Iskiklilar. Photographs by Milad Rezai.
